Why Not Us?

We have asked some of our recent brides to leave one word describing their experience with The Wheeler House, here’s what they had to say.

Experience. Variety. Timeless.

So often when couples are on the search for their venue it is so easy to get swayed by venues who offer "site fees" or "rental fees" which seem like a steal at the time but when you begin to factor in other cost, you might wonder how  you are ever going to find reliable companies that you can fully trust on the biggest day of your life. What’s not always factored in is what's normally a large factor in your budget. So why us? Why The Wheeler House?

All Inclusive Packages
With two ceremony locations, a bridal suite, and groom’s suite our beautiful Georgia wedding venue offers up the full package. We've done all of the research for you to find the best of the best! We have catering built into our package, along with delicious cake, and a DJ company that is sure to rock your wedding. Having a vendor team that you know and trust is crucial to any event! When adding our in house vendor team we secured a team that we fully trust and have the utmost confidence in to deliver nothing but satisfaction for our brides and grooms on their wedding day.

Bring your own
At The Wheeler House, we allow you to bring in your own alcohol for your wedding, This is a significant saving factor in your budget! While most venues require you to use their bar packages or for you to pay for any guest over the age of 21 which The Wheeler House doesn't require either. The Wheeler House provides you with a bartender for your event and has an ice machine to ensure everything stays cold. Whatever you choose to serve your guests with for the evening is completely up to you! You have the flexibility to provide all of the alcohol, mixers and garnishes for your big day!

The Wheeler Cottages
Being able to offer our clients overnight accommodations is something we have dreamed of since we opened our doors! With our cottages less than a quarter mile down the road, we have sleeping arrangements for 30 of your closest friends and family! Each cottage has a full kitchen and bathroom. A close location for your guests to stay is so beneficial in so many ways.

Wedding Planners and Staff

Our amazing team of vendors makes everything run so smooth for our clients! Our in house wedding planners are not only extremely knowledgeable in the wedding industry but also experienced. Being in business for over 5+ years now our planners are trained and prepared for whatever the day may bring. With a staff behind us taking care of parking, trash, and restocking the venue we guarantee to relieve as much work from your day as possible so sit back and relax and let us serve you!

We hope this has helped all of not just our couples but all engaged couples in general when they begin their process to search for wedding venues! Make sure you fall in love with the venue and what they provide, just like you fell in love with each other!

A Year in Review: 2016

Was it the people, the cake, the first dances, or the magical sendoffs that made this past year a dream come true? We aren’t sure because each of the above seemed to become more special as the year went on. As you all know, another year has come and gone at The Wheeler House. A year full of weddings, special events, laughter and tears. It never really seems surreal to us until the year comes to an end and we can reflect back on all the special relationships that we formed that year. It is our pleasure to share with you all some of our favorites from 2016!

Dress: Tenisha Little Meko
To say this dress was stunning is a complete understatement. The bead work and design that this beauty shows was so unbelievably gorgeous! The long sleeved dress style was such a refreshing change to look at as well!
{Kaptured Photography}
Grooms attire: Kirstin Willard Cagle
Navy was definitely the color for 2016! Stephen looked dapper in his suit and we loved the cream color tie! It was the perfect accent color to compliment his beautiful bride, Kirstin!
{Mike Moon Studio}
Cakes: Amanda Lassig Cunningham and Whitney Price Zapeta
We are all about some wedding cake here at The Wheeler House! 2016 didn't seem to disappoint either! The cake on the left was made by our in house baker, Lush Cakery, it was such a work of art! The light pink rosette icing was a beautiful touch and matched Amanda's color scheme perfect!
The cake on the right was so amazing! Whitney's husband Manny is a firefighter and what better way could they celebrate than with a cake that's a fire hydrant with the hose wrapped around it! This was so unique and we loved it!
{Left:Eve and Ever Photography - Right: Reflections of Joy Photography}

Getaway car: Blake Lisle Bryant
This classic beauty was so fitting for such an elegant affair! The 1920 Rolls Royce served the role of our Newlyweds making their grand exit at their September wedding with us! It was such a neat way to head off from their big day.
{Kayla Johnson Photography}
Special Guest appearance: Corinne Clark Summerford
This was on of the coolest things to ever happen in the history of The Wheeler House! Corinne had secretly planned for Hairy Dawg, The University of Georgia's mascot, to come and make a surprise guest appearance at her and Jake's wedding! Jake had no idea what was happening when "Glory Glory" started playing and the barn doors were slid open wide for Hairy Dawg to greet the Newlyweds and all their guests! Amazing idea Corinne, we loved it!
{Brittany Rae Photography}
Bridesmaid’s dresses: Amanda Roberts Durrence
Pretty Pretty Pretty! These girls looked radiant in their purple dresses! The one thing that we loved about these dresses was that they were all a different style at the top of the dress but still kept their length at the bottom which still gave off the elegant look! This pale purple color was just as lovely! Not a color that is overly used and it went so well with the Durrence wedding in April!
{Claire Diana Photography}
Overall decor: Brittany Phillips Wojohn
This December dream was such a stunning wedding to be a part of! Brittany and her mom and an amazing vision for this day and with the help of Miss Milly's Event Rentals and Design, plus Holland Daze their dream day become a whimsical winter extravaganza and more!

           Best Surprise: Katie Logan Morey
This was probably one of the most rewarding moments we as a venue have ever had the privilege of being a part of. Whenever we did our planning meetings with Katie she was unsure if her brother would be able to be at her wedding. She didn’t know if he would be able to take leave and come, so at her rehearsal she let our coordinator know that he wasn’t going to make it. Little did she know her photographer and soon to be sister-in-law had already given us the heads up that her brother was going to be able to make it, but it was going to be a complete and total surprise for Katie. Right before Katie was about to change into her wedding dress her bridesmaids had a video for her, it was her brother letting her know how much he loved her and wished he could be there on her wedding day…. Katie had planned a first look with her groom so as she was preparing for that, A Creative Pear photography actually had her brother in place ready for the surprise! When Katie turned the corner of The Wheeler House to see her groom for the first time, her brother was turning the other corner to surprise her! I’m pretty sure everyone who was standing alongside to watch was sobbing because it was a moment that you couldn’t really describe. Katie was so surprised to see him and it was the best feeling to be able to witness such a special reunion.

Flowers: Kelsey Johnson Sears
  This September bride stunned us with her unique floral signature provided by one of of our favorite vendors, Holland Daze! Kelsey's bridesmaids wore a very pale pink, while her groom and groomsmen wore navy suits! The florals added the perfect pop of color for her gorgeous wedding!
{ Mike Moon Studio}
Most unique unity ceremony: Kaitlyn Crawford Bell
Our heart strings were tugged at a little bit on this special day for Mr. and Mrs. Bell. Kaitlyn and Rick were one of the most genuine couples we've ever had the pleasure of working with. For their unity ceremony they wanted it to just be the two of them and they wanted share a special foot washing together. It was such a unique and beautiful moment watching a new husband and wife form an unbreakable bond not only with themselves but with Christ.
{Erin K Wood Photography}
Best first reaction: Alyssa Sale Hill
This one made our hearts so happy! These bridesmaids seeing their girl for the first time was absolutely priceless! Alyssa had such a fun May wedding and these girls played a huge role in that!
{Claire Diana Photography}
This is probably one of our most favorite blogs we have ever written for many reasons, but there is one that sticks out more than most. This year was special. Plain and simple, it was truly filled with special moments and memories that will stay with us forever! Thank you to each and every one of our brides and grooms for choosing us to share the most special day of your life with! You all hold a special place in our hearts!
With love,
The Wheeler House

Wedding Wednesday: Sara + Allen Cleveland // March 12, 2016

Sara + Allen Cleveland // March 12, 2016

These two met through a mutual friend and had their very first date on Valentine’s Day which just so happened to be around the time of the snowmageddon of 2014! Sara had been trapped at her apartment for nearly a week until Allen asked her to go out with him the morning of Valentine’s day. Sara was reluctant at first seeing as it was Valentine’s day and they had never met or seen each other in person before. They decided to still go and dinner went so well they went on their next day just two days later.

Allen would always say to Sara, “I’ll love you forever.” Well Sara was not so sure because she did not have a ring yet, and would joke around with Allen about when that moment would be and that she would not believe him until then. One night the two were sitting on the couch watching TV when Allen once again told Sara, “I’ll love you forever.” Once again Sara did her same questioning and Allen made an excuse to leave the room and go downstairs. When he returned, he pulled out a ring box and said to Sara, “How about now?”.

“I was completely shocked and yelled, “WHAT!?” at which point he then said, “Will you marry me?” said Sara.

"I knew it would never be something over the top because that doesn't fit our personality," said Sara. "The intimacy of our proposal was perfect for us!"

Sara did not really have a specific look in mind for her big day, but once she saw The Wheeler House, she knew that it would give off the perfect amount of sophistication and elegance without having to add too much detail on her own.

“The foundation of what is given at The Wheeler House is breathtakingly beautiful,” said Sara.

With Sara being in graduate school and Allen being in law school, they started their wedding planning early and made sure to space out the planning and major purchases.

“Planning ahead and spreading out the planning is what kept me sane throughout the wedding planning!” said Sara.

Their favorite moment of their beautiful day here at The Wheeler House was getting to spend it with their loved ones. They had many guests travel from different states to be a part of their special day.

Once the wedding was over, the two headed to a remote location in Mexico called Riveria Maya. They really wanted to go somewhere that was not very touristy so they could relax and enjoy the week with each other.

Sara & Allen,

You two were such a pleasure to work with! We can’t thank you enough for letting us be a part of your big day and we wish you so much happiness as you start your lives together!

With love,
The Wheeler House Team

2015 at The Wheeler House

2015 at The Wheeler House

[Bliss] - Supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment.

The Wheeler House team thinks the word above is the perfect description of how our year went. To say it will be missed is a complete understatement. The joy that has been spread throughout our venue over this past year is everlasting.

The goal of this blog is to give you the inside scoop of this year’s weddings and to show you how fabulous your wedding at The Wheeler House can be! We did the hard work for you guys—we went through tons of pictures and picked out some of our favorites from this year. We wanted to show amazing details from different weddings. We hope that these photos inspire you in the process of planning your big day!

To all of our 2015 couples: We truly enjoyed working with every one of you and we are very thankful that we got to play a part in your special day.

So, let’s get started shall we?

Bridesmaids Dresses - Jessica Harden Smith’s bridesmaid’s dresses were everything you could ever want in a bridesmaids dress and more. The dresses could not have been more perfect for her August wedding! We loved the unique differences between each of these dresses, and the sunflowers added the perfect “pop” of color.

Dress- Alex Masters Bobo

Not only was Alex absolutely stunning on her wedding day but her dress stands out to us the most because of the history behind it. Her dress is the definition of something old, something new and something borrowed! Alex and her mother-in-law Vicki were cleaning out a closet one day when they came across Vicki’s wedding dress she wore in 1981. Ethan, the groom, always loved his mom’s dress and wanted nothing more than to see his wife wear the same dress on their wedding day. Alex tried it on and instantly knew she found THE DRESS, but she wanted it to be a surprise for Ethan so she told him that the dress was “too small”. Over the next year Alex kept it a secret from Ethan and had some alternations done to the dress to make it her own. On her wedding day Ethan saw the dress for the first time on his new bride during their first look.

“I remember turning the corner and seeing the look on his face, as we both started tearing up. In that moment I knew it was worth everything.” –Alex Masters Bobo

Getaway Car- Taylor Hogan Thompson

After your wedding is over you will want to be sent off in style! One of our favorite getaway cars from this year was Taylor & Blake Thompson’s. This couples getaway car was vintage, very romantic and the perfect ending detail to their beautiful wedding. We highly suggest looking into getting a vintage car for your send off!

“Our getaway car was a 1966 Rolls Royce Princess Vanden Plas, provided and driven by Special Day Limos (Atlanta, GA). From the beginning of the wedding planning process, we knew we wanted an unforgettable send-off. Once we chose The Wheeler House as the perfect location for our special day, we knew we had to choose a vehicle that matched the venue's elegance and vintage Southern charm - the 1966 Rolls Royce was just right! Getting married at The Wheeler House was an incredible experience and the opportunity to leave in such a timeless car made it all the more memorable!” –Blake Thompson

Arbor Decor- Paola Hinijosa Frost

Paola and her mother put amazing detail and thought into decorating our arbor. Her isle is one of the most whimsical sights we have ever seen. We are OBSESSED with the doors her dad put together by hand that helped make her entrance even grander.

“The actual house looks like something from out of a magazine; it is stunning. I loved being able to have an outdoor ceremony, and an indoor reception all in one venue. If you are looking for apace to get married I would strongly recommend The Wheeler House.” – Paola Hinijosa Frost

Indoor Wedding- Emilee Springer LaRosa.

From the very beginning Emilee and Tony wanted their November wedding inside our barn. Along with the help of some family, friends and our amazing drapery, they turned the barn into a gorgeous ceremony location. We loved the white handmade wooden cross that was placed in the center of our mantle and the floating candles that lined the isle filled with cranberries. This wedding showed the diversity of our venue and how gorgeous a wedding in the colder months can be here at The Wheeler House.

“The wheeler house was 100% perfect and we couldn't be any happier. Thank you for everything! You made our special night even more incredibly special” –Tony LaRosa

Guestbook- Lauren Cooper Comb

We absolutely adored this creative idea in addition to a normal guest book! This was something we had never seen before and hope it gives you a new idea for your wedding!

“The idea of using an atlas book as a bucket list came from my mom. Her and I would always joke about needing/wanting a bucket list, but had never put one together. My mom and her dear friend ended up hosting my bridal shower for me. Sure enough after all the talking we had done about bucket lists my mom came up with a brilliant gift idea for Matt and I. She purchased a large Atlas book and had everyone who came to the bridal shower sign their name on their favorite place in the world to go and leave a recommendation on what to do while there. It was a huge hit!! It also worked out that since my bridal shower was a small group compared to the amount of wedding guests we had, we used the Atlas book again at the wedding. I have numerous pages covered in people’s signatures and notes for what to do when my husband and I travel there. It is a book my husband and I will have forever and such a great idea to have suggestions from all of our friends and family and where to go and what to do. I highly recommend everyone getting an Atlas for a bucket list. My mom is a genius!!”- Lauren Cooper Combs

Cake- Becky Lively Howell

The gorgeous intricate detail on this cake was simply stunning. We adored the elegance of the cake stand and the flower choice and placement. We also loved that the topper was unique and meaningful to this couple.

“Amazing event!!!! Thank you all for all your hard work and consideration in every aspect! The Wheeler House is the only venue I would refer!”- Becky Lively Howell

Cutest # for IG- Kristin McKenna Crowe— #FriendsinCrowePlaces

We know that coming up with a hashtag can be one of the toughest parts of planning. We praise Kristin for her creativity for this hashtag! The best advice we have for coming up with a creative hashtag is to brainstorm with others to see if you can create a hashtag that has not been used before.

Flowers- Ali Kreidell Woodie

These flowers were by far some of our favorites! With the help of one of our favorite vendors and her florist Holland Daze, Ali’s visions came to life and created the most gorgeous blooms. The simplicity of the colors and the elegance of the roses mixed with hydrangeas was stunning for this August wedding at The Wheeler House.

“The Wheeler House team exceed our expectations for our wedding. I couldn't be more happy. We received several compliments on the venue and entertainment. The Wheeler house truly works with the best vendors in the business. It was wonderful!” – Ali Kreidell Woodie

Overall Decor- Caroline Brown White

We absolutely loved everything about this wedding. From the beginning Caroline wanted her colors to be brown and white which was adorable since she was going to be changing her last name from Brown to White. Caroline’s decor was special not only to her but to us as well because her dad hand built just about everything for the wedding and reception. Having family build your decor not only saves you money but makes the day even more special and sentimental. Every detail about this wedding was too amazing to put into words so we are just going to give you a few pictures to see for yourself!

“The day of the wedding was everything I dreamed it would be, due to so many people working behind the scenes. You couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with! - Caroline Brown White
(Photo Credit: Adore Studio)

This carousel had a postcard of every person in the bridal party and a little bit about each of them. We loved this idea to showcase the bridal party and thought you all would too!

We loved this furniture her dad handmade as well as the pillows with their last names.

This guestbook table was the perfect combination of something old and something new! It had beautiful vintage pieces as well as photos of the bride and groom.

These centerpieces were our personal favorite! Caroline’s dad hand made these as well and we thought they brought the perfect touch to every table at the reception.

Send OffSarah Schueth DiFiore

This couple’s sendoff was beautiful! Sparkler send offs were the hit this year especially for night weddings! It makes for a beautiful send off for every bride and groom. We tell brides wanting to do a sparkler send off to always order the longer sparklers (18’to 20’ inches) to make a bigger statement for your pictures!

(Photo Credit: Kayla Johnson Photography)

Favors- Leah Smith McBee

This couple wanted to go with a vintage southern feel for their summer wedding. So what better way to do that than incorporate mason jars with your favors?! These mason jars were filled with honey for their guests to take home with a adorable label that said, “Meant to Bee.” Leah wanted to do a play on her new last name McBEE which we think is so creative! When choosing favors try to think of ways to make them special for your guests and meaningful for you both!

We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with so many great couples and amazing vendors in 2015. Thank you to everyone for making this year one of the best years yet and one we will always remember. We hope everyone has a great holiday season!

With Love,

The Wheeler House Team
