Wedding Wednesday: Sara + Allen Cleveland // March 12, 2016

Sara + Allen Cleveland // March 12, 2016

These two met through a mutual friend and had their very first date on Valentine’s Day which just so happened to be around the time of the snowmageddon of 2014! Sara had been trapped at her apartment for nearly a week until Allen asked her to go out with him the morning of Valentine’s day. Sara was reluctant at first seeing as it was Valentine’s day and they had never met or seen each other in person before. They decided to still go and dinner went so well they went on their next day just two days later.

Allen would always say to Sara, “I’ll love you forever.” Well Sara was not so sure because she did not have a ring yet, and would joke around with Allen about when that moment would be and that she would not believe him until then. One night the two were sitting on the couch watching TV when Allen once again told Sara, “I’ll love you forever.” Once again Sara did her same questioning and Allen made an excuse to leave the room and go downstairs. When he returned, he pulled out a ring box and said to Sara, “How about now?”.

“I was completely shocked and yelled, “WHAT!?” at which point he then said, “Will you marry me?” said Sara.

"I knew it would never be something over the top because that doesn't fit our personality," said Sara. "The intimacy of our proposal was perfect for us!"

Sara did not really have a specific look in mind for her big day, but once she saw The Wheeler House, she knew that it would give off the perfect amount of sophistication and elegance without having to add too much detail on her own.

“The foundation of what is given at The Wheeler House is breathtakingly beautiful,” said Sara.

With Sara being in graduate school and Allen being in law school, they started their wedding planning early and made sure to space out the planning and major purchases.

“Planning ahead and spreading out the planning is what kept me sane throughout the wedding planning!” said Sara.

Their favorite moment of their beautiful day here at The Wheeler House was getting to spend it with their loved ones. They had many guests travel from different states to be a part of their special day.

Once the wedding was over, the two headed to a remote location in Mexico called Riveria Maya. They really wanted to go somewhere that was not very touristy so they could relax and enjoy the week with each other.

Sara & Allen,

You two were such a pleasure to work with! We can’t thank you enough for letting us be a part of your big day and we wish you so much happiness as you start your lives together!

With love,

Wedding Wednesday: Morgan + Dan McNeill // January 1, 2016

Morgan + Dan McNeill // January 1, 2016

Although they did not attend the same high school, Morgan and Dan are the perfect definition of high school sweethearts. Their love for theatre, music and their friends brought these two soul mates together at church one day. They went on their first date at the age of 15 and the rest is history!

Upon graduation, the two attended Vanderbilt together. The summer before their senior year they went to look at engagement rings together. They both knew they wanted to continue to spend their lives together but they also wanted to wait to get married until they were both graduated.

On December 17, 2014 Dan and his a capella group from college won NBC’s The Sing Off. After this, Dan had many recording opportunities in Nashville which worked in his favor for his plan to propose to Morgan. He told her he was recording all day on January 31, 2015 so Morgan planned a girl’s day with her friends full of shopping, manicures and a movie. On their way to the movie, they took a stop at the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville to show one of their friends how to get to the gardens. When they pulled up to the gate, Morgan immediately saw Dan and knew instantly what was happening. He walked her around the gardens and talked about their story and how excited he was for their next chapter. They reached a wooden arbor, and Dan got down on one knee and popped the question.

“He says I didn’t say anything, that I just nodded a lot…but I’m pretty sure there was yes in there somewhere!” said Morgan.

The two continued celebrating that night over dinner at Maggiano’s followed by coffee at their favorite coffee shop in downtown Nashville- Frothy Monkey. When they walked in, 40 of their college friends were all standing in the back with signs, champagne and a slide show sharing all of the many memories the two had made over the years!

“It was the most PERFECT day, with all of our favorite places and all of our favorite people,” said Morgan. “Dan really outdid himself!”

The couple really wanted a vintage, timeless and classy feel for their wedding day. They decided to go with The Wheeler House because they loved the warm intimate vibe that it gave. They also loved that the barn and the house had character which helped tie in the vintage aspect of their day.

Since music was such a huge part of their lives the couple wanted to make their ceremony music, first dance and their parent dances special by having their friends preform live music. They also used their love for music to create their wedding favors which were mixed CDs of the couple’s favorite songs.

Morgan’s advice to any bride or groom planning their special day: “1). Create the day that best represents who you and your fiancĂ© are. Create a day where everyone walks away saying, “That was so them!” 2). Enjoy each piece of planning. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the details and the money and the stress. Take each decision and each experience and revel in it. If you do, you will appreciate your day so much more when it arrives.”

Since they are both in grad school, the two were limited to how much time they had for their honeymoon. The couple wanted to go somewhere quiet and relaxing to rest after their busy couple of months. They decided to head north to Blue Ridge for a long weekend to stay in a cabin before heading back to school.

Morgan & Dan,

We were so honored to share such a huge part in your special day! We loved working with you both and wish you both nothing but the best!

With love,
The Wheeler House
